“The management of this hospital is failing both its patients and its staff. The volume of patients is clearly more than they can handle, yet leadership has done nothing to improve workflow, staffing, or communication. As a result, the staff is overwhelmed, patients are left without answers, and the entire environment feels chaotic and unorganized. Patients wait for 10 hour's with no updates, no guidance, and no sense that anyone is in control. This is not a free service — we are paying for care, and the level of service should match the cost. Instead, management allows long delays, confusion, and a complete lack of accountability. This leadership team needs to do better. Healthcare is a responsibility, not a business transaction. When patients come in seeking help, they deserve timely information, proper coordination, and a system that works. Right now, this hospital’s management is not meeting even the basic standards of patient care. At the moment of this review I’m waiting 7 hours. So AI fall my case in the category of Leve 3-5 - Urgent to Non urgent: can wait hours yep 7 hours and counting.”

“stayed with my husband while he was admitted at St. Joseph's Emory Hospital and had a great experience. The doctors, nurses, dietitians, physical therapists, and food service staff were all caring, professional, and supportive. Everyone from Emergency, ICU to room each one treated us with care, respect and made his stay more comfortable. I’m grateful for the excellent care and support we received. Thank you for making a difficult time much easier.”

“This hospital earns 3 stars when it comes to caring for people with sickle cell disease, and that rating comes from a mix of positive moments and real areas that need improvement. On the good side, the staff members who truly understand sickle cell can be compassionate, patient, and willing to explain treatment options clearly. When you get the right doctor or nurse, you feel heard, and they make sure you’re hydrated, medicated on time, and monitored closely. Some techs and nurses go out of their way to check in, warm blankets are offered, and a few providers genuinely try to move with urgency. Those individual efforts do make a difference. But the biggest issue—and the reason this hospital doesn’t rise above 3 stars—is consistency. For sickle cell patients, timing is everything. Long delays in triage or in receiving pain medication can turn a manageable pain crisis into a miserable, exhausting experience. Too often, you’re left waiting while in severe pain, even after explaining your medical history and crisis patterns. Some staff seem unfamiliar with sickle cell protocols or hesitate to follow them, which slows down treatment and leaves patients feeling judged instead of cared for. Being questioned about your pain or made to feel like you’re exaggerating is not the standard anyone should expect in a hospital. Communication between departments also needs serious improvement. You might tell one team your pain level, medical plan, medications, or previous treatments, and still end up repeating the same information multiple times. Discharge planning can feel rushed, and follow-up instructions aren’t always clear. For a condition as complex as sickle cell, consistency and continuity matter, and those gaps show. The facility itself is clean and generally organized, but crowded waiting rooms and understaffed shifts make everything slower. There are definitely some caring employees here, and the hospital isn’t terrible by any means, but the overall experience depends too much on who happens to be working that day. Sickle cell patients deserve reliable, timely, educated care every time they walk in—not just on a good day with the right team. Overall, it’s a 3-star hospital: not the worst, not the best, but one that has real potential if it invests in better staff training, faster pain-management protocols, and more consistent respect for the unique needs of people living with sickle cell disease.”

“Dr. Ivan Rubel provided exceptional care during a very challenging time for me and our family. He performed my third, fourth, and fifth surgeries, and from the beginning, he was thorough and thoughtful—making sure every important health concern was carefully addressed before moving forward. Although I was in and out of the hospital for four months and we worked with many doctors during that time, Dr. Rubel truly stands out. His professionalism, skill, and genuine care made a meaningful difference in our journey. He was attentive, clear in his communication, and deeply committed to my well-being. Having a doctor me and my wife could trust during such a difficult period brought us great peace of mind. He is also supported by an outstanding team. Kevin and Jacquelyn his assistants were consistently kind, professional, and supportive, reflecting the same high standard of care. We are deeply grateful for Dr. Rubel’s dedication, expertise, and humanity. Thank you Dr. Rubel and God Bless them all. Walter and Cecilia Angiolini. :- )”
