“Wanted to share my testimony. My Husband was seriously injured in a motorcycle wreck. He was in a coma for three weeks in ICU with TBI and SCI. (Traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injuries) He was given 0% chance of recovery or ever waking up in ICU. I refused to give up and accept that prognosis. We arrived at Kindred, he was minimally conscious, on a trach, feeding tube and hooked up to IVs and every medical machine possible. It’s Day 28 now, and guess what! He is awake, talking, off the trach, breathing on his own, off the feeding tube and eating solid food. He is also able to move his body! Miracles do happen here at Kindred Houston Medical Center. Huge shout out to our case manager Ms. Darlisa for handling all my questions and concerns. The PCAs Mr. Jim, Ms. Sherika, Ms. Tamika and nurses O’Shea , Ivonne, Kimberly, Sunny, the respiratory team especially Mr. Latieff I know I butchered his name for always being positive and celebrating every baby step my husband took during his recovery. I also want to thank OT/PT team and speech therapy for working with my husband and getting his range of motion improved. Dr. Lee is the best, he stopped by daily day or night to check on my husband and listened to all my questions and concerns. Thank you Kindred for performing miracles and treating my husband like family.”

They explained in great detail everything about my condition My heart, I am truly grateful being a patient of kindred, which made an and he gave me full care and support. I understood the expectations and the needs of a special place like this Kindred Hospital has one of the most state of the art buildings one of the best RT programs in the state of Texas. The third floor, where I was held was very empathetic and most of all the house supervisor Phil was warm, caring and knowledgeable, and he really loves his job. “If I could do 0 stars, i would. If you love your family member and want them to receive proper professional care please DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! The staff is very unprofessional in my opinion especially compared to the hospital he was transferred from. My dad has been here 3 weeks and every week there had been a different issue. The care he gets from the staff here is absolutely terrible & unacceptable. He came there with bed sores from being in the hospital for a total of 3 months now that requires him to be turned every 2 hours, this was an issue the first week. Having to make sure he’s getting his proper therapy was an issue. This week it’s been a miscommunication about him not being bathed for the past 3 nights. The staff says they did but they don’t have notes to prove which the supervisor stated that this should absolutely be notated. You press the nurse station button they take forever to come and that’s if they even show up. His first week there he told me he has to bang the remote against the bed to finally get someone’s attention. I experienced it myself one time, waited 30 mins and no one still ever showed up. You asked them to turn him they’ll say they’ll be back they're going to go get help never come back. I’ve had to call the nurse station one night from home and let them know that he needs to be turned bc he pressed the button and no one came. He’s had an experience with a nurse that he asked if she can go warm up food(microwave right up the hall) according to him nurse literally told him no & that she doesn’t feel like walking all the way down the hall 🤨 and that he should just eat whatever else he has instead, now I understand that the nurse could have been busy but they have nurse assistants that could have done it but to say no is something that I feel is unacceptable as a professional care giver, my dad is bed ridden so it’s not like he could do it himself..After speaking to the supervisor she said that going to the microwave for him is something that could be done by the nurse. Tonight during my visit you could smell urine as soon as you hit the door..after I left someone “changed his sheets” he called and told me that they put the same wet sheet back on his bed. These are all the things I can think of off the top of my head, not including that the building is old & not well kept in my opinion, not all but most staff is rude. Before I chose this facility I spoke with Tara who is the liaison, she was very nice and made the facility sound like he would be well taken care of, I explained to her that my family is very hands on and she made me feel as if I had nothing to worry about. I can honestly say that I’ve been disappointed since DAY 1! Thank God my dad is coherent and can let me know when things are wrong, I feel sorry for the people who don’t have family looking out for them bc they staff here is horrible and if you ask me don’t deserve to be in nursing field, seems like they just want the check. Nursing requires compassion not just for the patient but for the family members as well. I have yet to see that..I spoke to the caseworker and the AM & PM supervisor today and told them that the care he’s been receiving is unacceptable and that I give ZERO STARS! The caseworker Kendra has been nice & helpful outside of her the two supervisors seemed helpful but today was my first interaction with them both so I’m not 100% sure but they seemed nice, said they were going to open an investigation. I am looking into getting my dad moved to another facility immediately as soon as his caseworker returns Monday. One more thing, the staff was trying to get his stitches removed but for some reason they couldn’t get them out im not 100% sure why, I believe bc it was painful so they stopped and decided to just leave it, this was maybe Sunday or Monday…Thursday the Dr comes in and asks my dad how has everything been since the stitches were removed whole time the stitches are still in his chest. This just goes to show how there’s a lack of communication between staff and how uncoordinated this place is.”
