“I want to sincerely thank Elmhurst Hospital—all the surgeons, doctors, nurses, and every team member of this incredible institution. On May 19th, 2024, you saved my husband’s life. He went through four cranial surgeries, and thanks to your expertise and dedication, today he is recovering, feeling better, and preparing to return to everyday life. It took me a year and a half to write this review, because I didn’t know how his story would unfold. Now, with hope and gratitude, I can finally say thank you. A special thanks to Dr. Zachary Hickman, Dr. Rappaport, Dr. Carr, and the entire surgical team. Our deepest gratitude to Valeriya Bokova, who became our guardian angel throughout these 1.5 years, supporting both me and my husband with care and compassion. We are also grateful to the emergency team who brought us safely to Elmhurst, the reception staff, the surgery and ICU teams, the aftercare and rehab staff, and truly everyone who helped us on this difficult journey. From the bottom of our hearts—thank you very much. We wish you all strong health and happiness.”

“🌸 I just want to take a moment to say a big thank you to everyone at Elmhurst Hospital I stayed in the hospital for two days, and before that, I was in the ER for another two days. During that time, every nurse and doctor I met was so kind, patient, and caring. They made a difficult time so much easier and really treated me with warmth and respect. 🙏 Elmhurst Hospital is definitely a good hospital — the staff truly care about their patients and go above and beyond to help. A special thank you to Nurse Karma, who helped me on my last day. I went back to look for her because I had some questions about my prescription, and she kindly helped me out with patience and understanding. 💕 I’m truly grateful for all the staff at Elmhurst Hospital — thank you for your care, professionalism, and compassion. You’re all amazing!”

“Hello, my name is Barsha. I have been living near Elmhurst Hospital for the past nine years, and unfortunately, my experiences there have consistently been disappointing. Over the years, I have visited this facility multiple times seeking medical care for my parents, siblings, and occasionally myself. However, due to repeated negative encounters with the front desk, medical staff, excessive wait times, and an overall lack of empathy and urgency, I have often avoided coming here for my own care. Most recently, I arrived at the emergency department at 3:00 PM with right lower quadrant abdominal pain, concerned about a possible appendix-related issue—something that should not be ignored. The check-in process took an excessive amount of time, seemingly complicated by my TRICARE (military) insurance. After approximately an hour, I was initially seen in fast track, where my vitals were taken and a urine sample was collected. However, after briefly hearing my symptoms, I was told they could not proceed with my care and was sent back to the waiting room. I then waited an additional two hours before being called again. During the second evaluation, a nurse asked a few questions and directed me to another waiting area. A newly assigned nurse repeatedly asked me the same set of questions I had already answered multiple times, which reflected a lack of coordination and training. Eventually, I was seen by a physician assistant who conducted a thorough evaluation. I appreciate his professionalism, as he asked appropriate questions and addressed my concerns effectively under the supervision of two physicians. Following the examination, I was informed that I would likely need blood work and a CT scan, and I was instructed to return to the waiting area. After being called back again for the physicians to verify my symptoms before ordering the CT scan, I experienced the most difficult part of my visit. From approximately 8:17 PM to 1:58 AM, I waited for the CT scan. During this time, I remained seated in a chair with an IV line, experiencing ongoing abdominal pain, without being offered a bed, water, or food. The CT scan results did not come back in hours. The conditions were extremely uncomfortable and distressing. It is concerning that patients are expected to endure 12–18 hours in the emergency department without adequate comfort or timely care. The facility consistently appears overcrowded, with insufficient space, poor cleanliness, and visible trash. Additionally, many staff interactions came across as dismissive and lacking compassion. I hope this feedback highlights areas that require immediate attention, particularly regarding patient flow, staff training, adequate staffing, communication, and overall patient care experience.”

“Good morning, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the care and kindness I received during a very difficult experience. When my knee suddenly popped and I was unable to walk, I had to hop to my desk and was scared and overwhelmed. My wonderful work family immediately stepped in, helping me get to the ER and making sure I was cared for. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with compassion, professionalism, and genuine concern. The ER staff registered me promptly and provided exceptional care, making me feel comfortable, supported, and at ease throughout my stay. Every member of the team showed kindness and understanding, and I am truly grateful for the love and care I received. I was also touched by the visits and support from my work family. Their concern reminded me how much we value and appreciate one another, and it meant more to me than words can express. Please extend my heartfelt thanks to the Patient Experience Team and the entire ER staff for making a frightening situation much easier to navigate. Your compassion, dedication, and outstanding care did not go unnoticed and will always be remembered. Thank you again.”
